Hair grows in repeated cycles. Each cycle is broken down into 3 phases – Anagen Phase also know as Growth Phase when hair grows for 2 to 6 years.
Catagen Phase which is also the Transitional Phase when hair stops growing, follicle shrinks and hair is ready to fall out and finally Telogen the Resting Phase when old hair falls out and new hair grows thereby starting the Growth Phase again.
As individual hairs on the scalp are autonomous, each hair is in a different phase or different part of the cycle. Hence, it is normal for us to shed about 50 – 100 hairs daily.
